“We appreciate that AGAPE of NC continues to raise awareness and diligently works to meet ever-present needs in the foster care and adoption communities.”

Karen Thompson first got involved with AGAPE of NC when she and her husband, Terry, volunteered to be a part of AGAPE’s pregnancy crisis hotline, LoveLine. Back then, their daughter-in-law, Jennifer Thompson, used her MSW degree to work with AGAPE too. We are grateful our agency’s mission became a family affair for the Thompsons!

Today, AGAPE no longer operates LoveLine, but Karen remembers how our organization adapted to strengthen collaborative relationships with County Dept. of Social Services offices. This strategic move has allowed AGAPE to be able to identify more children and families across North Carolina in need of foster care and adoption services.

“We loved working with like-minded people, like Tom Slaughter and David Clinard, and so many others. We have also enjoyed getting to know and serve several adoptive families. Volunteering with AGAPE was a wonderfully positive experience! We are grateful for, and continue to support, the individuals who still carry on AGAPE’s ministry to this day! We appreciate that AGAPE of NC continues to raise awareness and diligently works to meet ever-present needs in the foster care and adoption communities.”
